I’m actually gonna go see Top Gun Maverick tonight even though I’ve never seen the first one. The stellar reviews and word of mouth have piqued my interest.

Yep, I can see why it’s such a hit. Extremely entertaining movie.

Also, the height difference between Tom Cruise and Miles Teller is comical in certain shots. Surprised they couldn’t find a box for Tom to stand on.

If the movies don't show minorities in great enough numbers that is considered racist by the left. If they over represent a minority isn't that also open to criticism?

This year, 2021, broadcast networks set a new record high with 11.9 percent of series regular characters on scripted primetime broadcast series being LGBTQ characters. I do wonder if it is possible to have a show with too many LBTQ characters.

Racial minotiry dominated movies and TV shows are pretty commonplace.

I was watching a show on Amazon prime yesterday and it had commercials. I rarely watch Amazon, is this something new or have they been doing this for a while.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

I think it is just certain third party (not made by Amazon) shows and movies. I watched something on prime the other night, that was "free with commercials", I honestly don't remeber what movie it was, but some external movie.

I'll wait for it to be available at home.

Should look and sound great on my home theater.

I went to another town to watch it on a large screen at a theater with all the new bells and whistles. I thought they were doing something to make the seats vibrate when the jet engines were going full blast ... well, they were, I concluded the bass speakers were so powerful they made the whole theater vibrate!

Yes, a top flight sound system in a theater will outperform my home theater, but wife is still concerned about sitting near strangers for hours (covid).

I generally wait enough weeks in, that even the popular movie crowds have thinned out.

I noticed HBO Max sold a light on the commercials version for $9.99 a month. I haven't been to a theater in a while, but I remember them showing commercials before the feature began.

50 years today since Deep Throat was released. I remember hearing Lovelace saying she had been forced into it by her husband, but I guess she eventually decided to earn money from it signing various souvenir items.

Quote:
. It intrigued celebrities, mortified conservatives, divided feminists and changed pornography forever. Deep Throat, which premiered in New York 50 years ago on Sunday, is probably the most controversial – and profitable – film of all time.

The X-rated movie starred Linda Lovelace as a sexually unfulfilled woman whose long-lost clitoris is found by a doctor buried in her oesophagus, prompting long, surreal and, some would say, boring scenes of fellatio with a series of men.

Deep Throat provoked a fierce backlash from an unlikely alliance of feminists and religious groups and drew scrutiny from the FBI. Its director was arrested and it was variously banned, unbanned and rebanned during obscenity trials that ensured more people were eager to see it (it was not shown at a British cinema until 2005) while its star claimed she was violently coerced into making it.
