Daughter opted to go out of state to Temple University at 16K per year which judge ruled each parent must contribute to.

The recent headlines about a thirty year old man being legally evicted from his parents home made me think of this prior thread.

Do we live in a society where it takes a court order to get socially responsible behavior? Most tenants are lucky to get a three day or ten day notice and that NY guy wanted three months.

I don't know where that 30-year-old lived, but in California it is very difficult to evict anyone if they claim they have nowhere else to go. They can drag it out for months and not pay a dime in rent.

He is in upstate NY. I think part of the issue is when someone does not have a lease but just lives with you. A major reason why men need to be very careful about a live-in gf in those places. When it is their own name on the lease I would wager it is easier to boot them. I could be wrong, but just what I've seen.
