You don't like them, I get that If what you are saying is true then the catalogue is worthless On the other hand EB is wrong again. Really embarrassing EB lol Their music is the most valuable catalogue in music history Their songs continue to generate a huge amount of money today Their catalogue is valued at 1.5 billion Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

So what. There are soap operas that are pure tripe and have been on the air since the 50's. Does that mean they're great because they lasted 50 years? Crap is crap, the Beatles were in the right place at the right time with their crap. Irving Berlin songs will still be sung 100 years from now, they're being sung today. Is anybody singing Beatles songs? Anybody? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Great Sgt Peppers story Paul Mccartney decided to go out to a club to hear a new up and coming guitarist named Jimi Hendrix At that time Jimi was unknown in the USA but was big in London Jimi was blown away by the Sgt Peppers album that was released just a few days before So Paul shows up at the club to hear this new guitarist. Jimi opens his show with Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band :-) That's respect. Jimi knows a good tune when he hears it :-) Paul actually helped Jimi become famous Monterrey Pop Festival tried to get the Beatles Paul told them they were busy but they should book this new hot guitarist Jimi Hendrix Monterrey Pop never heard of Jimi but they booked him on Paul's recommendation The rest is history Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

Yes, but their lyrics are truly shallow and trite. What's the opposite of "repellent"? Whatever it is, the Beatles are like a teenage anti-repellent. That's why they stay popular, more or less, gaining fans every new generation, and nostalgia for the past keeps them valuable for a long time. They have some good, deep songs, though: For No One, She's Leaving Home, probably a few more... Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

I get you don't like the Beatles but Unbelievable how wrong you are. Embarrassing Beatles Love - one of the most popular shows on the Las Vegas strip today Just about everybody sings along. Everybody knows the songs Nearby Disney Epcot Center. Beatle songs are performed every day by a Beatles look alike band at Epcot England. The crowds love it. Always a huge crowd when they perform. Nobody is interested in a soap opera catalog Who wants to watch an old soap opera The Beatles catalog continues to earn 30 to 40 million dollars a year That's why the catalog is so valuable, 1.5 billion is the estimated worth, one of the biggest earners of any music catalog. Their music continues to entertain today People are buying and singing and listening today. At the tune of 30 to 40 million dollars a year Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

re- "back" + pellere "to drive" (hence "drive back") from Latin "repellentem". The word originally referred to anti-tumor medication. The original meaning is completely lost in English, and I assume it is in Spanish as well, because googling "repelente" produces only bug spray images. Usually reviews simply say the singer or the band attracts a whole new generation of fans. Beatles music evolved as they got older keeping the same fan base. Many new groups don't try to evolve. They simply attract the same age group over and over. |

Even Bob doesn't half come out with some nonsense. Clearly the Beatles are still popular. No doubt they'll still be reprised in fifty years too... Their stuff I'd standard for many musical schools, just like G&S, Sinatra and Irving Berlin. Many of the songs have obtuse lyrics, but like some poetry, it's the feel of the phrase not the facts. Personally, I'd be happy never to heat the Beatles again, but saying they don't have value and love still is the sort of snobbery bullshit that fake critics like to spout without understanding the point of much art... To make someone feel something. So what if it's mass appeal, or not for you. If people can react, you succeed. If you keep getting a reaction fifty years on, you've really achieved something more than mere popular timing. Every once in a while I'll hear a band do a Beatles song. Beatle songs I have heard performed live. Of course a Beatles cover band at Epcot doesn't count Hey Bulldog She Said She Said Rain-What a great song, beautiful melody. Seen 2 bands cover this one. Grateful Dead and the Allman Brothers, both outside and in the rain :-) Tomorrow Never Knows Its All too Much Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Revolution Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |
