I'm still waiting for Pew to explain how
heaven and hell are not the cornerstones
of the religion.
No problem. I was saying that heaven or hell as our ultimate destiny is not dependent on how much we sin as if there was a line of good enough to "make it". Most people of all stripes believe this even if they don't know the first thing about Christ. I have found that most people have a rather nebulous belief in "something out there", a better place, some kind of heaven if you will but they all seem to think bad people don't go there. The truth however is radically different, NO ONE is going to heaven or hell for behavior. We go to heaven or hell based on Christs' behavior and his atonement for our behavior by his sacrificial death on the cross and his subsequent resurrection thereby defeating our enemy, death. For us to go to heaven we need to put our faith and trust in what He freely did for us. It's the easiest thing in the world but almost everybody that's ever lived up to this very day have refused the free gift of life through Christ. There is no sin in Him. Anyone who goes to hell goes willingly by their own choice.

Well I just got schooled again. :0 Your clarification you both are making claims rings true. My mistake I believe was
confusing my own neutral standpoint with Bob's which is actually a claim against. Thanks for your time.

He claims God is a fantasy and made up. Therefore he is making a positive statement that needs to be defended and moved forward.

So far you've shown no evidence I'm wrong.
From two years of reading your attempts
at evidence, it seems you believe god hides
behind trees and jumps out at people
when he feels like it. If you ask him first
in prayer, that is. Even then, chances are
slim.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

So why do preachers threaten people with
hell in their sermons, if no Xtion is going
there. You make no sense.

Nobody who ever lived is going to heaven,
not even the millions of Xtions who died
over the last 2000 years? I'm not sure you
completely grasp what your religion is
about.

Nareed I hope it doesn't pain you to say that I have never recieved on this forum a kinder post. Although it is undeserved and I only wish I could be a better Christian I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Now if only I could live up to what I say.

I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, but I'd venture to say that Nareed wasn't actually complimenting you.

Yes, every Xtion claims to be the biggest
non deserving sinner, and only hopes
they can live up to what Jesus wants of
them. It's like a contest, who's is the most
undeserving, yet saved, Xtion in the room.
Brownie points at the Pearly Gate if you
win, apparently. Make a great Parker
Bros board game if the rules weren't so
confusing.

You rarely say anything so close to understanding Christianity, congratulations.

Oh, I hit the nail on the head with that one.
Just like when Xtions give their testimony,
it's guy with the grizzliest story, the most
pitiful down and out tale, he's the one that
gets all the attention. He's the one you all
pat on the back and hang on his every
word. There are articles out there about
this, how so many testimonials are made
up grandstanding now, and to knock it
off. It's a contest to see who is the 'most
saved', and you can't deny it.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

There are born again heaven bound redeemed people who don't understand the Gospel rightly. That's why some preachers teach wrong doctrine. It obviously makes no sense to you. That's the point. Your heart is hard.

But you do understand it rightly, you're one
of the few who will get to heaven, then. You
must be very proud, thinking of all those
Xtions who were suckers and never had a
chance. To heck with them, right?

Way too complicated for a simple guy
like me. At least atheism is easy to
understand, and we don't have to go
to meetings to be told by other atheists
that we aren't doing it correctly.
