Just remembering Alan Watts. He's
one of the reasons I moved to
Calif, to meet him. He lived
just north of the GG bridge, but
died the year before I arrived.
I didn't know it, I had no reason
to look it up at a library, and there
was no internet in the 70's. He
was only in his 50's, I just assumed
he would be alive.

Bob you keep saying these things about the motivation for Christian evangelization and I don't think you have a clue about what you are talking about. The motivation to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ is because it is true and the greatest help and blessing for this life and the life to come.

This kind of answers the question about knowing if it is true or not. Besides the historical truths a person of prayer knows and has deeply experienced the truth of Jesus Christ, the risen Lord and knows His great love for all people.

Naw. It has nothing to do with
it being true or not. It's all
about power and money, just
like everything else. You have
to say it's because the Church
cares, blah blah blah. It's in
their best financial interests
to keep the base growing, just
like Amway does.

If you really believe the motivation
is caring and love and truth, you
aren't as smart as I thought you
were. But you woundn't admit it
anyway.

I guess you have to say that because your own personal experiences and the influence of others have so prejudiced your view of things. I understand.

It's a fact. Do you think
the Chevy dealer talks you
into a Chevy because it's
the best car out there, like
he says it is? No, he does
it because it's his job to grow
his business and keep his
company going. The Church
is no different in any way.
You have a product, the truth
of it has nothing to do with
anything.

Exactly my point you think evangelization is like selling a car. It shows your bias and that someone has twisted your mind completely. If you are curious, it is more like introducing someone to your best friend who has changed your life. Jesus is not a product, He is a person and truth is not only why people in a loving relationship with Jesus has grown but continues to do so.

It's exactly like selling anything you
believe in, not just cars. Good
salesmen believe in their product,
it's what makes them good salesmen.

You have a weak product, so you have
to resort to scare tactics to make sales.
Making little kids think they're going
to hell, believing in witches and demons
and the devil hiding behind every bush.
All under the phony guise of that Vatican
4 letter word, 'love'.

Lucky for you the old saw of 'a sucker is
born every minute' has never changed.
When it does, you'll be out of business.

So it isn't just for power and money, I'm glad even you realize that.

It is because I deeply believe Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. I personally know and have seen countless times in my life and the life of others that He is stronger than whatever demons scare people away from God and in the process make their lives so unhappy. You are simply fooling yourself and the epitome of a "sucker" if you don't think there is real evil in this world after the destruction of your soul.

It mostly is. If you take a sales class
like I did, you can sell things you
don't believe in, but it's harder. It's
better to pick a car or vacuum you
really like. Mormons send their
salesmen door to door, your church
sent their salesmen to the new world
and ruin it. The pope even apologized
for the damage they did in the New
World.

If it is really hard to sell something you don't believe in than by your own statement it would not be mostly people doing that. Did your classes talk about what happens when you sell a product that is no good? There sure is a lot of people who believe in Jesus and when introduced to the life changing relationship with Him are greatly blessed and want to tell others about Him.

There were certainly abuses from some missionaries and many from the governments and explorers from Europe. However, how do you think the New World was ruined. Do you think the human sacrifices of the Aztecs should have continued? Do you think the impact of Catholicism and Christianity ruined life in the Americas?
