According to Google, today's the first day of Spring. I'd thought the ttraditional 1st Day of Spring was March 21st.

Oh well. Judging by the elevated temperatures and the flash thrunderstorm yesterday, I thought we'd already moved into Summer anyway.

Nareed - I always thought the vernal equinox was the 21st but, I suppose, due to Leap Years, the date changes from time to time.

In 2014, vernal equinox on March 20 at 12:57 P.M. EDT. So it missed being on the 21st using Eastern Daylight Time by only 3 minutes.

Pfft. You people way down south don't get spring. It's always warm. Even your "cold winter day" is better than most of my "warm spring" days.

It's like that Canadian joke EB posted. Canadians have 4 season - Winter, winter, still winter, almost winter. You just have all summer instead. And if you post "how cold it's been" for you, I swear to god... ;)

Only those of us between 40 and 50* latitude have spring. It's a scientific fact. The rest of you get "March and April" ;)

Not quite. A high of 10 C is hardly warm. This last winter was rather mild, all things considered, but we had a few days with -2, -3 C lows. (0 C = 32 F)

I like the Russian winter humor better: Pskov has two seasons, Winter and July 16th.

Too late. Now you have to make a promise to your god.

-2C is good fishing weather. A great day for a walk. During my hockey tourney, where I was out in one, soaking wet undershirt, it was -18C. I woke up to several days straight of -28C. For 3 months straight, -2C was something I could only barely remember.

It's 5C now, and I'm outside with no coat on. It's a warm spring day. =)
