The Met is currently the most expensive museum in the nation. I also generally oppose government subsidies of museums, in which case I couldn't complain if prices went up. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Well, the Met is 2 million pieces of art in almost 50 acres of floor space. In addition you only pay the $25 if you want to. The 9-11 memorial seems to be overzealous in creation of such an expensive space. They are not displaying art treasures I think many people will limit themselves to the outside sculptures. |

I did that tour about five years ago. Don't recall the exact cost, but around $20-$30. Worth every penny. You could spend all day there. Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Surprisingly few American tourists when I went. It is much more of interest to Japanese tourists. To be fair the mainland tourists frequently go to out islands. |

Well it's part of history. I think that first of all most of the tourists on Oahu are from Japan, and second they are much more likely to go to a museum. Most of the tourists on Maui are from mainland USA. If you go to Hiroshima you would naturally go to the Peace Dome, although there are very few Americans who go to Hiroshima. When I was there about 25 years ago some older women said that it was still very difficult for them to go to Oahu since they had clear memories of the newsreels of the Bataan death march when they were young. |
