If after death experiences mean anything, they
all report not caring about anything when
looking down on their own death or on their
families. This leads us to believe zen masters
are correct. Life is only an illusion and has nothing
to do with the true nature of things. So belief
in god is here nor there.

Somebody asked for my 200th post here to give my opinion of the Holy Rollers who as I understand it were a Christian group who teamed up to count cards and win some money at the casino. I'm not sure if they gave their winnings away to charity or at least a percentage but I hope so.

I do not think gambling is evil or always wrong so i have no problem with Christians gambling as long as 1) they can afford to lose and 2) they don't cheat. I also do not think card counting is cheating in the least, even though there are strong opinions the other way. Card counting is making the best bet as the Wizard would say and it is simply using your brain and some mathematical strategy. Therefore if these Christians could afford to lose this money as an entertainment expense and even if they are card counting I have no problem with what they did for a time. God Bless!

A small percentage, they lived pretty good. It was a
weird thing, even the leader now admits he stole
from the team.

Source? I tried googling it, but couldn't figure specific enough terms to get anything other than the movie reviews.

I voted negative EV. Waste of time and money, at best, the way I see it.

Source? .

It was in an interview I listened to awhile
back. Not on the Vegas station, it was an
off the wall thing. It was something like
using team funds to pay for things that
should have come out of his pocket. He
made it good eventually.

The question makes no sense to me because it's all too vague.

I interpreted it as a rephrasing of Pascal's Wager.

My sister in law is a god nut. She posts
a pic of a sunset and it's 'look what god
gave me tonight'. With fall trees it's 'look
what god painted for us'. With the sun
coming up over the mountains it's 'look
at what god created for us'.

I want to post pics of kids dying in a monsoon
and say 'look what god did to these kids', or
that bear who ate some teens in Russia last
year. 'Look how god fed a hungry bear'. My
wife says I better not, so I don't. But, oh, I
sure want to..
