One tool I've been using to discover new music is http://www.thisismyjam.com/

By new, I mean new to me... plenty of stuff I end up buying or listening to tends to be from the last 20 years of Indie-rock, rather than the last 3 weeks. it's a simple social media site where people post one track a week that they've been liking, and you can listen to a series of your friends music.

My current favourite track is Mega City Four - Stop.. a small time indie band from a town or two over from where I grew up. Jangly guitar music, with a distinctive voice and some great lyrics. The singer died suddenly at aged 42 about 5-6 years ago. By all accounts one of the nicest people you could hope to meet.
It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.... it's called Life
