But I mix it with sugary Teriyaki sauce. No, I don't eat anything healthy.

Doesn't matter what you mix it with you're still eating it and it's still doing something good for you.

Some on here are too young to remember anything but low interest rates. Rates were crazy in the early 1980s. 12% was a good deal!

I wonder how many parents still tell their kids to buy a car when they've saved enough money and not take out loans.

My sister’s first mortgage was 12%. I felt pretty smart a few years later when I locked in 7.25%.
The mind hungers for that on which it feeds.

You can still pay plenty of interest if you so desire. This is on a motorcycle currently I see advertised in Florida.

Quote:
*Example: On financed amount of $7,500, your down payment is $0; no Interest FOR 6 MONTHS and 60 consecutive monthly payments of $153.90 each. Interest rate is 9.95% [APR 8.51% (E)].

Remember air raid siren tests? Maybe they did them once a week or once a month?

I don't know when of if they've stopped completely. I haven't heard one in a long time though, except on video.

One of my neighbors in the sixties built a bomb shelter; I wonder what it's used for today?

My dad, civic-minded soul that he was, captained local civil defense back then; I used to accompany him when he inspected the fallout shelters in schools and other buildings.

Yeah, as if that would make any difference against a nuclear attack, given we were close to NYC...

I remember going with my dad to look at a fallout shelter. If I remember correctly the guy was a salesman for them and was trying to talk my dad into buying one. I believe it was suppose to be constructed in the basement.

I'm building a garage this summer from scratch and have been working on it since May 12th every day three or four hours a day. I'm reminded that in the 1950s you never saw two stall garages because nobody had two cars so everybody had a one stall garage. The only people that had two cars were rich people. Most of the parents that I knew in the neighborhood the mother didn't even have a driver's license. I'm building a one stall garage that looks like it came out of the 1920s. I loved those garages. Like this one:

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.
