What city are you closest to on
this radar map. There's a winter
storm warning for Jamestown,
10" today and tonight. High of
22 tomorrow. 30 degrees below
normal.

Gowanda. Earlier in the week I saw forecast for highs in upper 20's. Was a bit irritating, but what can you do.

I understand that you like that area better, but it sure wouldn't be for me. I can't imagine that I will ever live where there is regular snow. Personally, I would not have moved to Las Vegas if I realized how cold it gets here in the winter.

Cold?

I put so much thought into this and I think I'm f#$%ed. NY's cold is just too freaking long. Friend in NC gets routine 90's near the coast. I can't seem to think of a place that has >7months of tolerable weather or <4months of intolerable.

I could / can handle it if I were retired, I think. I do have a genuine love for days like EB's pic. The first fresh dump, or after any fresh dump. The serenity of a big fall that shuts everything down. And big storm events are one of the few times I truly feel... free. Like there can be no surprises or responsibilities, even ones I forgot, because even if there were, activity is shut down and action is impossible. It's a fantastic feeling, a true vacation. And trout fishing is fun, and hockey is awesome, and random days on the slopes are some of the best.

But making a buck in it sucks a bag of 'em. No, five bags. Being in it can be nice. HAVING to be in it is asfhn#$^@MOI2#*(

Did you make up your mind between Naples and Villages? Or somewhere else?
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Isn't the proper question "Did your wife decide which location that you will be living in?"

The male ego is fragile, so I left it alone.

In SoCal it was dark a 5pm in Dec and
Jan. It was rainy and in the 50's often,
depressing and cold. But far worse,
the people sucked big time. When
I moved back to MI after 7 years I
couldn't understand why I ever left.

Reasonable home prices, great jobs,
friendly people who don't tell you
their life story in the first 10 min you
know them. No homeless wandering
the streets with their hands out.
Golf courses that were lush and green
instead of light brown and dark brown.

And beautiful blond women everywhere.
Calif has some of the fattest and ugliest
women in the US. Never been back for
even a visit, don't miss one thing from
living there.

I do not get the fascination with CA. If you love traffic, high costs for everything, getting panhandled, and shallow people it could be the place for you.

To answer Rx and DR, no decision. The first decision is IF we are doing it. We will see how she feels when younger daughter starts college next year. I would be happy in either locale. I am hoping to go back for a longer period this February. We shall see.

This sounds like the people who judge all of Nevada by looking at Las Vegas,

It accurately describes most of the populated areas of CA. The whole state is basically a third world nation now. A upper class doing well, extreme poverty at the bottom, and the middle struggling to survive. $4 and $5 gas. Unaffordable housing.

They can have it.

Exactly. There are plenty of smaller cities in California where you wouldn't have bad traffic and exorbitant costs.
