I think you are likely at least 20 years younger than me. If you are past 50 then I am wrong.

Not past 50, still too old for nonsense. Cornbread and iced tea have taken the place of pills and 90 proof.

What a pussy of a hurricane. A Texas mayor
was telling people yesterday if they didn't
evacuate, write their SS on their forearm
with a magic marker so their body could be identified
after the storm. LOLOLOL!

I see a lot of suffering

Very very dangerous in Houston due to historic flooding
My heart goes out to Houston

Pretty bad when you find out you need an axe in the attic of your second story house in order to get to the roof. Much like Katrina conditions.

I wonder how many have flood insurance in Houston proper? Going to be costly.

Where the water is only knee high, I've seen some people towing dogs who are having a great time splashing around.

Ever rescue cats while it's raining? I have. If they're not declawed, you better have thick clothing.

I have no pity for people who live in
areas known for flooding in hurricanes.
Stupid is as stupid does. The Indians
didn't have big settlements in the San
Francisco area because they knew the
ground shook there sometimes. Like
it did 100 years ago and will again.

Well, watch what happens if they get a 500 year rain event in Vegas. I've been there when it flooded.

Quote:
Flash flood warnings were issued Saturday, when 0.81 inch of rain was recorded at the National Weather Service's official measuring site at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.  That handily beat Sin City's previous record for the day, which was set at 0.17 inch in 1943, said Andrew Gorelow, a meteorologist.

So you think Vegas is a well known flood
plain, then? Nice try. We have an area
that floods here every spring and the
same people are on the news bitching
about it. Here's something: MOVE!

This 10000000000%

I have absolutely ZERO sympathy for anyone living in these areas. They know the inherent danger but yet accept to ignore it. Then when the inevitable happens, they want to come crying for help. GET LOST!! They get what they deserve.

I know a guy who lives in the area, as
soon as it hit he got in his car and drove
1100 miles to Ohio to stay with relatives.
I've asked him before why he lives there
and he has intelligent answers like 'I dunno.
Too lazy to move' He even keeps the plywood
to nail over the windows right in his living
room at all times so neighbors won't steal
it.
