Different sources requires different recording techniques.

Parabolas concentrate the acoustic energy from a planar wave into a focal point. If you record at that point you can improve on signal to noise ratio for a narrow direction.

I'm thinking about getting a Surface 3.

It's gotten good reviews: http://www.zdnet.com/article/microsofts-new-atom-based-surface-3-starting-at-499-to-hit-in-may/?tag=nl.e539&s_cid=e539&ttag=e539&ftag=TRE17cfd61

I'm concerned about having to use it with Win8.1 until Windows 10 comes out. I thought I ought to wait until it comes with Win10 installed, but that will take a longer time.

I've never actually been to a Windows store (MS Windows, at least). There are several in Vegas, though.

Does anyone know whether they carry only Microsoft devices, or do they sell other hardware as well?

I'd like to look at other alternatives, like Asus and Dell. It would be a lot better to have them all under one roof.

I am only aware of one Windows Store in Fashion Mall in Las Vegas

There are ASUS computers in Fry's Electronics in Town Square Mall about 1 mile south of the Mandalay Bay.

I have an ASUS tiny desktop

I think there's another one at the Forum Shops.

I know Town Square. It's on the SDX route to the Outlet mall. Thanks. I may give it a try.

There are three Apple Stores on the strip, and one in the suburbs
Fashion Show 3200 Las Vegas Boulevard Las Vegas, NV 89109
The Forum Shops 3500 Las Vegas Blvd South, Caesars Palace Las Vegas, NV 89109
Town Square 6671 Las Vegas Boulevard South Las Vegas, NV 89119
Summerlin 1985 Festival Plaza Drive Las Vegas, NV 89135

But I think there is only one Microsoft store, although

Fashion Show 3200 S. Las Vegas Blvd Suite 1045 Las Vegas, NV 89109

THe LG Android cell phones in Mexican Best buy website start at 2200-2500 pesos.
The LG L34C Android cell phone is $50-$70 at Best Buy in the USA
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/tracfone-lg-l34c-optimus-fuel-no-contract-cell-phone-black/7867112.p?id=1219298189035&skuId=7867112

If you buy the LGL34C at Walmart, they are $10, $20, $30 for different divisions of Tracfone. The packaging says you must activate them, but you don't have to activate them at the register. If you don't activate them as phones, they make handy little low cost Android tablets that work on wifi. So if you are looking for a gift or supplemental tablet in the 300 pesos range, this is a good idea.

América Móvil is the largest mobile virtual network operator in the USA. They don't own their own towers in USA like they do in Mexico, but they buy time from all the major networks. In the USA they operate under multiple brand names, but the biggest is Tracfone. Other brands include NET10 Wireless, Total Wireless, Straight Talk, SafeLink Wireless, Telcel América, Simple Mobile, and Page Plus Cellular. They sell the same phone for dfferent prices under different brands. You might get it for $20 under net10, $30 untder Tracfone, and $20 under Total.

The price is so low that because TracFone subsidizes them as a way to reduce the entry cost of buying their cell service.

This table might be helpful if you are purchasing streaming devices

One should be enough.

Thank you. but I have a small tablet, I'm set for a cell phone, and I don't usually bring gifts like that.

I wouldn't mind paying money for a phone that would 1) make and take calls, 2) serve as a WiFi hotspot, 3) cost under $100 for two weeks.

Supposedly my iphone with the company-issued SIM card should work just as well in the US as it does here. Last year it didn't (same SIM card, different phone back then).

Do you have an android phone? I don't think there is any way to rent a hotspot for that price. Are you going to be downtown? There is a very limited number of places to get free wifi downtown.

I have an iphone phone ;)

Last year I took along the mid/low-end android Sony Experia phone I was issued. Since then I moved its SIM card to an old over-hyped iphone.

Yeah, 4 Queens charges $9.99 for 24 hours of WiFi. I could therefore obtain 10 days worth of it, as needed, for just under $100. I won't need that much. Absent work requirements, I can make do with renting in-room WiFi only twice for the whole trip. Though I do go mid-afternoon to Fremont St. or the Plaza for free WiFi.

You can still install Google Hangouts to your Apple phone, and make inexpensive calls back to Mexico when you have wifi.

Main Street has free wifi in parts of the casino near the front desk. So does Krispy Kreme.

All of downtown has low speed 1 Mbps wifi. That may be fast enough to make a wifi phone call to Mexico.
