Why not? =)

I like spin offs and weird compilations. Hearing a common songs played in a completely different style just tickles me. So here’s a thread for the stuff you won’t hear on the radio. Feel free to throw in some of your favorites =)

I’ll start with a few once I track them down…

Might as well start with 2CELLOS. These guys play a lot of what I consider "filler music". Stuff like ACDC's "Thunderstruck", that's been so played out on the radio you don't even realize when it comes on. It's just noise in the background. But when they play it, suddenly it's something.

Take this. I don't like GnR at all, and this has got to be one of the most played out songs of all time. But when they give it their cello treatment, it suddenly comes alive.

Or how about this? You simply cannot have been a child of the 80's and 90's and not have an appreciation for the Legend of Zelda. I love all incarnations of this song, and if I ever get married again, would want it as part of the ceremony. I like it that much. But piano, violin, flute, that's normal. That's what it's supposed to sound like.

How about pots, pans, beer bottles and wine glasses, then? =D

Love it!

Doesn't "avant-garde" mean new music? In any case, I get your point & love the vids. *thumbs up*

Here's the beatboxing flute guy playing the Super Mario Bros theme:

Check out the drummer. OTOH, you won't be able to miss him, once he gets going.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

I love avante-garde music. My apologies if any of you have seen these; I may have seen them here first years ago.

Those aren't exactly avant-garde (both Bach), but those are two of the coolest things I've ever seen. Thanks for posting.

Just so we're clear...

Avant-Garde - adj - 1. the advance group in any field, especially in the visual, literary, or musical arts, whose works are characterized chiefly by unorthodox and experimental methods.
2. of or pertaining to the experimental treatment of artistic, musical, or literary material.
3. belonging to the avant-garde: an avant-garde composer.
4. unorthodox or daring; radical.

Zippy nailed the essence of the thread. That ping-pong ramp of kinetic xylophone was awesome =)
