That's code for "I will agree with you." Not bloody likely. I'm not that crazy :)

I suspect you don't know what I believe in from a hole in the ground, then.

I think that in a nutshell tells you why the GOP will massively resist any weakening of the Electoral College. However, they will embrace keeping the EC, but changing the formula for assigning votes to candidate (to be more like Nebraska and Maine).

Why would they want that? Right now, you have the situation of urban areas in redneck states basically having their votes nullified. Places like Texas wouldn't have all their electoral votes go to Republicans if their votes were all chopped up by district or whatever.

What will keep the Republicans in power, until they simply abolish voting, is that Democrat voters tend to be concentrated, both by state and by areas within states. It essentially means that nine rednecks in a flyover state have more influence on the outcome than two million minority voters in a blue state. That's stupid and unfair--which is exactly why the Republicans will keep it the way it is.

It'll all be moot soon anyway. Soviet Russia, North Korea, Iran, Nazi Germany, etc. didn't bother with elections at all, and they were paradises on earth--right? That's because the ruling party was much wiser and more righteous than the opposition. That includes telling the people how they should vote, and punishing them when they disobey.

Abolish voting? Why didn't I think of that. Bob, get that on the agenda for the next meeting!

Actually, it's fairer than fair. It's what
keeps us from becoming a banana
republic, with dynasty families getting
elected for generations. The founding
fathers were some very smart men.

Ahh, more Trumper racism. Allowing minority votes to count will turn us into a banana republic. Statements like that may fill you with pride, but they're actually quite disgusting.

I do agree that we should keep dynasty families like the Bushes from dominating politics :)

Them rich, white guys knew what they were doing. Even then they could see that just a few places might dominate and the only fair way is indirect voting so that all regions had to be paid attention to.

I'm sure the rest of the forum will be thrilled to have the poster formerly known as mkl654321 on a different board deciding who they will and won't tolerate. :S
