Rich people seem to think size and quantity equals happiness, the bigger the better. I find the opposite to be true as I get older.

I am learning that too. The house I just bought is only about half the size of my current house.

I'd guess most trailers are designed for at least two people.

This floor plan of a micro mini is 19ft.

That looks almost perfect
Don't need the bunk beds so maybe even smaller
Side outs are wonderful. Nice to live in an RV that's wider then a road due to side out. Its really rare to see one without a side out
I'm totally happy with my downsized life
You dont need a big place to be happy
Right now in the middle of a 9 hour drive
I drove 5 hours yesterday, camping for 2 days and then a 4 hour drive. Why rush.

By report, used RV's have been flying off the lots at RV dealers in stumptown.

A lot are bought be people who lost / are losing their home, be it owned or rented, and they need a place to live.

Many of them park in enclaves of others similarly destitute; these now dot the local landscape.

There's one on the bank of the Columbia River at the I-205 crossing: not well-maintained, no pride in appearance, some burned or vandalized, garbage everywhere.

Welcome to Portland!

Sorry, things started going to hell in a hand basket around here when Trump sat on the throne.

Its tough out there
The cost of housing in this country is becoming absurd
More and more people are being driven out of there homes
This has been ongoing and seeming to get worse
Its everywhere, not just Portland
I was in Eugene and they are working on it.
Setting aside a large area for the homeless and providing bathrooms, sanitation and trash pickup

Do you have a solution?
I hear a lot of complaining and it's real easy to complain
What should Portland do
Out of site out of mind like Springfield? Just push them off on to the neighboring town and let them deal with it.

My suggestion:

Each town with a homeless problem needs to designate / set aside a suitable area for homeless folk to set up camp; equip it with toilets, sinks and showers.

Have an employee present at all times to supervise.

The problem is WHERE to site it?

Old abandoned schools would work but neighborhoods would be in an uproar.

My suggestion: put it in a nonresidential area, and have the city provide regular shuttles from the typical homeless congregating points near the highways etc. so that the homeless have an opportunity to live a life outside of the camp, and so they can come and go from the town, as oft is their wont.

With that in place then sweep in and physically remove any other homeless camps / tents etc., and prohibit such in areas other than the designated city supervised homeless camp.

Criminalize overnight camping in any places other than in designated areas.

This should satisy the mandate laid down by the courts, so far as I can tell.
