I just wrote a new blog entry on my trip to Roslyn, Washington. Why Roslyn? That is where they shot Northern Exposure, possibly my favorite TV show of all time. Please have a look. I welcome all comments, questions, and especially corrections.

Don't forget Cle Elum a nearby community that also provided a few backdrops for Cicely, Alaska.

I remember some airline claiming to fly to anywhere in Alaska except Cicely.

That darned apostrophe looked so dissimilar to the rest of the sign that it was annoying.

I visited some touristy arts and crafts and local jellies store. Jelly might have been good but I tossed it in the garbage since when I opened it the jelly seemed fine but the inside of the lid was moldy.

Northwest of Roslyn is Snoqualmie about 20 miles east of Seattle and the location for some of the shots from Come Firewalk With Me or some such movie. Merchants still sell posters about it. Salish Lodge exterior was the "Men go there; Women work there" upscale whorehouse in the movie and the restaurant never liked being linked to the movie that way. Now of course everyone just focuses on the casino.

Yup, Roslyn is a twin city with Cle Elum, I drove through there on my way out but didn't know it could be seen on NX.

One of the advantages of the internet and its travel intensive orientation is that some sites are prospering by focusing on such things as Medical Travel and Historical Tourism so that little local tidbits are getting increased focus and attention.

I'm not going to get involved in any "world's best water" claims but I'd sure never pass up a brewery in an area that made that claim. Some of these Farm to Fork restaurants are gaining notoriety as well. The added value of curated listings makes the internet more than just a vote amalgamation of Yelp reviews. The Pit River Gap area, which you recently toured, is of great interest for its micro climate, its rich farmers, the former hippies. One family had to recently sell out but one of the best sources for the scientific study of mud on human health is in the Pit River Gap area.
