What could cause this damage?

beachbumbabs Member since: Sep 3, 2013 Threads: 6 Posts: 1600 | The nose cone is a radar dome (radome) as was noted, and is made of thinner and different material than the rest of the fuselage. Other than that, I just don't know, but I think metal fatigue is a good starting point on both the China and the NW incidents. If the metal collapsed inward simply from air pressure on structural weakness, it would certainly make a loud noise as the metal malformed, especially if it were to hit the antenna turning inside as it collapsed, stopping the antenna. If the antenna weren't there, the entire cone might've collapsed. Pretty interesting. Never doubt a small group of concerned citizens can change the world; it's the only thing ever has |
