Blacklist is the show that saved NBC. It's number one
on network TV. It's on Netflix and I really looked forward
to seeing it.

It's warmed over drek. It's X Files and Silence of the Lambs
and Hannibal rip off's. The writing is awful, the acting,
except for Spader, is horrible. I sat thru 5 episodes and
turned it off halfway thru the 6th. This is what people
think is great TV? It's not clever, it's not original, it's
plodding and predictable and boring. The female lead
is a joke. The FBI is depicted as incompetent boobs.

There you go again, Bob, you don't like anything. I like
Californication. I like Justified. I like Hell on Wheels.
I really liked Mad Men. I like American Family. They are
original and inventive. With great writing and acting.
Blacklist is cookie cutter crap we've seen a dozen times
somewhere else. I loved Breaking Bad thru the 4th season.

Shows need to find their groove and usually take time to develop. I have never seen the show, but if it's successful, others don't seem to share your opinion. Demographically nobody really cares if old men like any show and disliking often is just a symptom of the show's appeal to the 18-34 demo. I never thought I would find MTV unappealing entirely but magically as soon as I was older than their target, couldn't stand it. They know what they're doing.

Yes, I forget how stupid and uneducated so
many younger people are. They think crap
is wonderful because they don't know any
better. Thanks for snapping me back to
reality..

Am I wrong or is Spader playing the same
character he played on Boston Legal? Aloof,
sociopathic, narcissistic, nose in the air. He
knows everything, is never surprised and
is five steps ahead of everybody. Very hard
to take after awhile.

The character in Boston Legal is nearly identical to Graham Dalton, the bored, laconic, sexual dysfunctional character which won James Spader the Best Actor in the 1989 Cannes Film Festival. The film was "Sex, Lies, and Videotape".

Didn't he play that character in Pretty in Pink, too?

I just watched an ep of Boston Legal and
he plays the same guy in Blacklist. Aloof,
arrogant, snippy responses with his nose
in the air. Exactly the same delivery of his
lines. Rarely smiles, has little humor, could
be a doctor, or the unibomber.
