I forget what you said your time was in the marathon, but I think it was about 4.5 - 5 hours. It sounds like the marathon was much more painful.

Yes, the marathon was a lot harder than this. My time was 5:12 and I was in agony at the end. I had huge cramps where I had to just sit down for ten minutes because I couldn't move. I should have trained harder but I ran into knee issues, which held back my training schedule.

If I haven't said congratulations enough, the whole adventure is very impressive. I assume you are still using the longer cranks.

Thanks! I was actually thinking a lot about the cranks on the ride yesterday and feel I'm ready to try the 135mm setting on flat rides. In fact, I think I'll try that out today.

Here is a Garmin connect link to the ride. .

Page Not Found is all I get.

Try this link and then click on "Henderson ride."

In more news, I just switched to the 135mm crank arm holes this afternoon and rode around the neighborhood a bit. It seems so much more effortless than 150mm. Amazing how much difference 15mm makes. For very hilly climbs I'm thinking of using my Coker, which is still set to 150mm.

Nothing to click on, just a chart.

When I log out I have the same problem. I don't know how to make these rides public.

Well your circumference is 10% shorter. Given a perfectly flat surface, you should be able to translate that into almost 10% speed, or 10% less work.

Of course, the operative phrase is "given a perfectly flat surface".

Unicycle forums talk about a B.C. wheel (after the cartoon). Sometimes they imagine ultra short cranks as being close to a BC wheel.

One of other Vegas unicyclists mentioned them. Here is a video of one:

I'm thinking about making an attempt at the 50 miles next week. The weather should be perfect. My plan is to start at the M and go south along the I-5 Frontage Road, which is actually Las Vegas Blvd. (the Strip). It turns into a dirt road at a point 21.6 miles south of the M. So, I'll ride to that point and back which will give me 43.2 miles. From there I will make a decision to press on for the full 50 or quit. If I go on then I'll go up the St. Rose Parkway bike trail for 3.4 miles and back.

Won't that make make doing on your b-day
kind of meaningless?

I thought you were doing it ON the Bday
to prove you aren't AARP material. You'll
start getting mail from them almost
immediately, btw.
