CBC presenter, big scandal up in Canada. Claims of sexual assault and rape, didn't stand up completely in court. Good object lesson in the ability of predators to avoid censure. Or lesson in old crimes coming up to haunt.

When you come right down to it, Cosby's pretrial tactics are pretty much standard: delay and exclusion.
Excluding comments made in jest is pretty sensible whereas excluding comments made under oath in a prior deposition is going to be a far greater hurdle.

If that prior deposition had surfaced six months later, the statute of limitations would have run out.

Bill Cosby is not really considered to be sufficiently black, having made far too many comments about black youth wearing their pants at half mast. Bill Cosby has too many honorary degrees and too much presence at ... Tulane... Temple University to be embraced by blacks as a representative of the black community. All of Hollywood has abandoned Bill Cosby, not just the black movie stars.

Of course the question is not just 'the black community' but 'the jury panel'. I don't know how many blacks will be on Bill Cosby's jury but I doubt any of them will see Bill Cosby and black. Far too many white victims. Of course the jury is supposed to set aside all the other accusers but we all know that will not actually happen. Too many of the accsussers appear credible, if not actually honorable.

All this 'Will Bill Cosby Play The Race Card' stuff should have been countered with 'He does not have one'.

While well over half the list of accusers may be rather doubtful, far too many appear not to be motivated by fame and fortune, having had sufficient fame and fortune on their own without the help of the accusations they make against him.

Is this particular accuser the best of the crop? No, but not anywhere near the worst either.

So, in effect, it will be simple: Cosby is going down. Age, blindness, senility, race ... they all just won't cut it. Should more of Hollywood have stood by him? Sure, but they won't be at the trial. His accuser is nowhere near the best of the pool, but she doesn't have to be. Her problems will be exaggerated but her claims will stand. I think atleast half of his accusers are doing it for the money but a prosecutor just needs one complainant to be believed and once that happens the civil suits will follow with little defense and a lower standard of proof.
