I saw it yesterday. Certainly better than average for a Bond film. I still think that Casino Royale was slightly better, but Skyfall is much better than Quantum.

The ending let me down, I have to say. It was an opportunity wasted to dig deeper into the very nature of Bond. The character of the villain (Javier Bardem) was not believable to me either. Still, the first half was outstanding, and I thought was on its way to being perhaps the best bond film ever. However, it was as if the writer died and some hack finished the job. Maybe this review seems too negative. It is still much better than the average bond film. The third best the in the 13 movies since The Spy who Loved me (the best Bond ever).

I'd like to add, very briefly, that I also saw Flight, which was outstanding. Between Skyfall and Flight, the latter is better.

Havent seen that one, but the comment surprises me in that it was article of faith when I was coming up that the Bond films have been declining and would never 'get up again'. So I have to see this one.

Back in the day, Dr. No and From Russia With Love were primo and exciting new films; it was debatable whether Goldfinger was an improvement or not, but still very good of course. Thunderball not bad but first evidence of a wobble. From then on out the Bond films were in definite decline, some practically unwatchable, according to this widely shared view with which I concurred.

I have to admit those were good, especially Russia. However, everybody seems to compare all bond films to what was playing in the theaters when they were a kid. My first was Moonraker, and I basically grew up with Roger Moore as the Bond to compare all others too. Not saying he is better, but he is my Bond.

I saw it this weekend and was disappointed. I actually nodded off a few times! Daniel Craig is very charismatic as Bond but the storyline was just boring. So Bardeem was going to announce names of undercover agents...oK thats bad but for a Bond film not very world shattering. I thought the scariest part of the film was when Bardeem takes out his teeth! The Bond girl was barely in the movie and wasnt all that attractive. I didnt feel any sparks at all between her and Bond. Sean Connery is still my favorite (iconic) Bond but Daniel Craig is definitely 2nd. I will say that visually it did have a lot going for it but thats about it.

I gave up on Bond after the last Timothy Dalton movie. Although I did like "The Living Daylights." Prior to that I'd read some of the Fleming books and a few by other authors. The Fleming books don't have such imaginative action sequences, though in one of them Felix Leiter does get half-eaten by a shark (ugh!)

I did see some of the others after Connery; I am now reminded I liked Live and Let Die and would rank that one pretty high.

haven't seen Skyfall yet. As far as Fave film, since 2002 I've been torn between "You Only Live Twice" (S. Connery), and "Die Another Day" (P. Brosnan aka Remington Steele).

I saw it tonight. and I say it is a "can't miss film" on the small screen, but it is only decent on the big screen. It was a very good film, but lacking in many things that kept it from being a great film. Casino Royale was a better fillm, because even though it had a blatantly simple story at times, it still had a story. Skyfall was more incoherent, as if they shot a four hour movie, and then cut out 90 minutes so that it was marketable. I felt absolutely no emotion for the dramatic ending. Since Javier Bardem is one of my favorite actors, I have to say he was not at his best.

It's nice to see the franchise hit one out of the ballpark on their 23rd film, but it could use some better writing.

Good Song! Done in very classic James Bond tradition.

I thought they completely distorted the Moneypenny character from Ian Fleming's vision, but she was incredibly attractive.
