I respect you now and want to be able to send you PM's. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

In over 15,000 posts, I can never recall EB retracting or apologizing for anything. What have you done with the real EB? Knowledge is Good -- Emil Faber |

Nareed and I have a lot more in common than not. We actually share a lot of the same views. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I admire your analytical thinking, it's much better than mine. analytic thinking - the abstract separation of a whole into its constituent parts in order to study the part and their relations If you take a risk, you may lose. Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25010 | Nareed, you nailed it with the astrology comment. It's a perfect example of how something can last for thousands of years and be total baloney. People not only believe what they want, they love to get on the bandwagon and believe what others do. No thinking involved. Did astrology die out with the modern era of science? Hell no, it's as strong as ever. People like it for the same reason they like Christianity. Astrology is about me me me. Just like the religion. It's all focused on your ego, what you're going to get out of it. Your personal god who worries about YOU, has a plan for YOU, sent his son for YOU, and he died for YOU. Astrology is the same. It's all tailored to fit YOU, cater to YOU, make your ego feel bathed in the attention. Good job, Nareed. You really clarified things for me. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | Bob, I'll leave it to you on your own to see how the comparison between astrology and Christianity is ridiculous. However, I just can't allow you to continue to spout this stuff about Christianity being about ego or about YOU. Christianity is a humble recognition that it is NOT about you, it's about Him and about others. It is your atheism that is all about you and making your personal ego into a god that determines based on your personal preferences what is true or good. The other ironic thing is that you are going about wooing Narred the wrong way. If you have been following our discussions in the other threads she has made it clear that the question to be asked is: what is in it for me? The me, me, me you accuse Christianity of is much more akin to an honest atheist like Narred. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

That's the only question anybody really asks. Even the most altruistic. Even a saint wants to know whats in it for him.
I admit I have zero idea what this means. What's an 'honest atheist'? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
