How many of the 2500 follow the things that you quoted?

Who knows, they all pick and choose what they
like and disregard the rest. The Catholics added
a whole bunch and consider what they wrote
just as 'holy' as the rest of the Bible. Figure that
one out.

Oh Bob, where did the Holy Bible come from? It came from the Traditions of the Catholic Church, it was written by Catholics, complied by them, and promoted by them (us). When you figure that out you will be one step closer to understanding.

90% of it came from the Jews, the OT. The
NT, very short in comparison, came from
the editing dept of the early Church. Later
additions were approved by the same dept,
the fix was in..

The great thing about modern times is, I
can say things that would have gotten me
murdered by the 'holy' Church just 500 short
years ago.

I think I mentioned that the Church had strict rules against capital punishment. I can say you are saying stuff that both makes me laugh in its ridiculousness and cry that you really think that.

So it wasn't written by God, therefore it's not God's word.

But we knew this all along.

That the Church dealt harshly with heretics? Is
this a discussion you really want to have?

This sounds like something Bob would say, I'm surprised it is from Nareed. The Bible is God's Word inspired by the Holy Spirit using human authors. My point is that the Bible did not fall out of the sky or was directly written by God Himself as many other holy books claim to be. The Bible arose from the living memory, traditions, and beliefs of Christians during the first decades of the Church's existence.

The holy spirit again. Wasn't he behind
the Crusades and the Inquisitions too,
then? I mean, where do you draw the
line in the sand. You drag him out when
it's convenient, and ignore him the rest
of the time.

Yes, I don't point out the obvious all that often.

Proof?

Even the Romans, and there were few peoples more arrogant, didn't claim the Aeneid to be the inspired word of Jupiter. But then they did have one or two achievements to point to, like the Roman road system or the various aqueducts they made (not that they'd have pointed to that).

Well if we can use achievements as proof for the Bible being the Word of God then we could point to the invention of hospitals, orphanages, universities, the scientific method, modern civil rights movement, some amazing architecture, etc.
