What does that really mean? .

So of course Jesus didn't mean what
he said, because you can't get anything
you ask for, let alone everything you
ask for. Whoever misquoted him was
doing an oversell on how all powerful
Jesus was, that is obvious. But it makes
you wonder, how many other things
are misquoted. The Jesus Seminar says
the majority of it Jesus never said.

Why does it have to be a misquote, is Jesus incapable of using hyperbole?

hyperbole: exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.

You really think that works well in religion,
for the leaders to make important statements
not to be taken seriously? Prayer and how
it works is extremely important in every religion.
For Jesus not to literally mean what he said
would be a travesty to Christianity. You would
then have to doubt everything he supposedly
said. But it's moot, I'm sure he never said it
in the first place, it's ridiculous.

You are an expert in hyperbole.

How does that answer what I said. This
is exactly what you did last time I posted
what Jesus said about prayer. You danced
around it and never said anything. You
can't explain what he said without going
onto a limb so fanciful and so thin, it breaks
with the slightest scrutiny. He said it or
he didn't, religious men don't use hyperbole
on serious subjects, it's too dangerous.

Religious men do this all time. You are confusing, 'not to be taken literally' as 'not to be taken seriously'. The point often of hyperbole is to drive home a point in a way a literal statement couldn't. For example, when Jesus says, "if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off" do you think he meant this literally? Hyperbole such as, "ask and this mountain will be thrown into the sea" is only dangerous if you are crazy or trying to force a ridiculous point about Jesus' teaching on prayer.

Gee, really? Who would'a thunk. That's kinda
why they call it hyperbole instead of outright
lying. So to read the NT correctly, you need
an interpreter to separate the hyperbole from
the non hyperbolic statements. You need a
wise person to say 'no no no, bozo, Jesus
didn't mean that at all.' And that's how you
end up with 3000 different versions of
the religion. (at last count)

Do you even realize what you're saying? The
NT is so confusing that nobody, obviously, can
read it correctly. You just pretend you have
and go from there. And you wonder why
intelligent people wander away in disgust.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Again you are the master of hyperbole or just straight up exaggeration. It really isn't that hard. A little humility and common sense will go a long way.

Do you realize what you are saying? Because Jesus used a common way of expressing important truths like hyperbole and parables this makes the entire NT so confusing that nobody can read it. I think you should try to explain more why intelligent people have such a hard time understanding that when Jesus says you can make this mountain jump into the sea or that you will receive anything you ask for in prayer, He might not be speaking literally.
