It's easy for lay people to be confused about a comet tail, and think that it's pointed away from the Sun because debris falls off and, being smaller, falls slower than the main object. Ever since Galileo we've known that's *not* how it works, and when the comet heads back out, yet the tail still points away from the Sun, it should remind us it's the solar wind that creates the tail effect. If the object comes from somewhere else, and already has a tail, why wouldn't it be likely to be pointed just about any which way? As for the other 'weird' things, I'll have to take their word for that. Get ready for more interstellar objects, we only now are able to detect such things ... it's easy to postulate now that they've been blasting through since day 1 without us knowing I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

It could be using our sun to accelerate to some distant alien world, having found no intelligent life in our solar system. |

She has a new video about tracking of possible artificial objects in space years before Sputnik. |

Not sure if this was all covered before.

| odiousgambit Member since: Oct 28, 2012 Threads: 164 Posts: 6214 | Weird... astronomy is proving to be the leading edge for the realization scientists don't really understand everything, can't explain everything. The thing with Einstein's shift is, in physicist speak, the distortion of the space-time fabric caused by gravity, or for those of us who live in 3-dimensional space, the phenomenon of gravity bending light. Einstein predicted this and it was proved true in early 20th century by an eclipse that allowed a star that was actually behind the sun to be seen IIRC. Now, you would think by now they would be able to predict exactly the point where this 3I/ATLAS thing would show up . Or maybe the aliens gave it a rocket blast knowing we couldn't see them do it, chuckling at the reaction I'm Still Standing, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah [it's an old guy chant for me] |

What made you think scientists understand or explain everything? I've been around scientists my entire life, and every single one-myself included-would admit guilty as charged to not knowing, understanding or being able to explain everything. |
