In any case, I'm not against people eating meat. I don't know if we can ever completely get away from factory farming, but I do object to unnecessary poor conditions just to maximize profit over animal welfare. Of course, if some people would stop promoting "birth rate increases" maybe we wouldn't need to produce so much. Only real derangment going on is people who still believe in Trump |

The ones raised for beef are. In the US, while both male and female calves are raised for meat, some males born on dairy farms are killed soon after birth because they are considered unprofitable by the industry. Other male calves are quickly sold for veal or beef production. You don't need a lot of males to service a herd of females. Veal calves are killed at around 16-18 weeks of age. |
