My two Dyson fans are now 10 years old. One has run all night for 9 months out of the year.. Remote control, and 10 speeds. Whisper quiet on low speeds.

I watched almost 12 rounds of a boxing match last night before I realized the MMA fights were no longer on and it was boxing!

Wow, these guys never kick.

I should have had a clue by the big gloves.

The square ring/no cage was also a big tip off...

for some reason it occurred to me one reason for the success of the Christian religion is the emphasis on God creating the Universe. I was thinking the Greeks and Romans didn't have a god creating the universe? Looking it up, that's not correct, they did, however the Christians borrowing the *emphasis* on The Creator from the Jewish tradition was part of the eventual success, I'm thinking

AI Overview [google]

In Greek mythology, several figures are associated with creation, depending on the specific myth. Phanes is considered the first deity in some accounts and is seen as the ultimate creator. In Orphic tradition, Chronos is said to be the father of Phanes, who gave birth to the first generation of gods and the cosmos. In Hesiod's Theogony, Chaos is the primordial form from which Gaia (Earth) emerges. Gaia then gives birth to Ouranos (Sky) and other primordial deities, who are the ancestors of the Titans.
In Roman mythology, while there isn't a single equivalent to Phanes, similar concepts exist. Chaos, in Ovid's Metamorphoses, is described as an unformed mass from which the elements emerged. Hyginus also mentions Chaos as a source, from which Mist, Night, and other primordial entities arose.
Therefore, the answer to which god created the universe depends on the specific myth and tradition being considered. Phanes, Chronos, Gaia, and Chaos are all associated with creation in different ways

It was (a) Evangelizing to the gentiles and not just to Jews, which expanded it's reach (b) it's emphasis on charity and compassion and works of mercy (c) a generally religiously tolerant Roman populace, depending on the time period and politics (d) the fantastic Roman transportation infrastructure.

Greek gods seem more accurate. Existence on Earth reflects petty and pointless use of destructive powers just as much as it does beneficial rewards and goodness. Humanity ruined by the actions of the first humans to get thrown out of the Garden of Eden seems like a big setup supposedly by a being way too smart and who already knew what would happen. THE GAME WAS RIGGED FROM THE START.

They never got into what Adam and Eve were doing in the garden all day. Is that what they would be doing if we hadn't sinned.

The rise of religion was based on fear and speculation of the unknown back in the day.

With the ascendency of science we now have explanations of pretty much all of the Deep Mysteries which led to the rise of religion.

It's a left overartifact from a bygone era and other than acting as a balm for those afraid of death serves little purpose other than maintaining social contact among its members.

The world would be a much better, less war-like place without that Old Time Religion.
