It's about time churches started paying taxes.

I see no valid reason for them to be exempt from paying income and property taxes.

They never should have been exempt.

Non-profits are generally tax exempt. Why are you only coming out to tax churches and not all non-profits?

What, do you think the Catholic church is really non-profit?

Are you saying it is traded on the NYSE? Or is it owned by private equity?

I will ask again, other than your bigotry against religion, why do you not call out all non-profits?

Fine, tax "non-profits" if it makes your nipples hard, I could care less.

Thing is, I see little difference between collecting money and paying out salaries and expenses by churches for "saving souls" versus "making money" by corporations such as META.

Define "profit."

Maybe you need to update your legal training and then. And basic accounting to learn the difference between revenue and profit.

Maybe...maybe not.

Churches, like businesses, use revenue to meet ongoing expenses; the remainder is profit and is retained, reinvested, and replowed.

Why shouldn't churches or non-profits pay a tax on the money remaining after regular expenses are met?

What makes them special?

Certainly nothing in my book.
