Not exactly. I just don’t get the ‘strategic’ part of having an OPEN DISCUSSION about going to war? And of course there is the stupidity of what is exactly ‘war’? I think sending a plethora of bombs into another country should always be considered ‘war’. But apparently there are plenty of euphemisms that are used. I think my overriding emotion is being upset at the inevitable loss of young American lives. |

You realize the USC requires Congress to declare war? So that should be reason enough even if we have a President that routinely disregards the USC. This is not an attack we received out of nowhere. This is an attack we initiated on a foreign country for our own benefit. This could have been openly debated. The majority of citizens wanting regime change is not justification for foreign involvement. The majority of U.S. citizens want regime change. Does that give China license to invade and replace our President with one of their choosing. |

This is the problem. Unless there is a true regime change, the next Ayatollah will just be doing the same terrorism/repression as the previous one. We will now see how strong this present ‘regime’ is…. Will the people be able to overturn it to some ‘Democratic’ system? I don’t have high hopes. |

The "regime change" Iran wanted is the current one. There is a reason in the 70s there was overwhelming support for the revolution. It was pretty clear Iran did not want a regime that was basically a Western puppet. I don't see any natural regime change that will be significantly better (and I see many that will be way worse.) America's involvement in Iran going back to the 50s has always just needlessly complicated things. Ron Paul was one of the few politicians on either side who has been correct on this (or at least honest about this.) |
