Avatar had a $237 million budget, and would have made a handsome profit on the $2 billion foreign box office alone. I don't think it is at all risky to plan 4 sequels. A number of franchizes have pretty much burnt out in the USA and Canada market and are still turning a good profit elsewhere. This real-life Chinese landscape was the inspiration for the world of Pandora. That pretty much guarantees acceptance in China and the possibility of a theme park there. For every American who found Avatar's story to be derivative, look at what the Chinese are producing as fantasy blockbusters. Second image is a promotional event. ![]() |

Because: IT’S. NOT. TRUE. If you think a James Cameron movie that is scheduled for release in 2025 will be completed in 2020, you truly know absolutely nothing about filmmaking. Unless, maybe you’re confused and think “done with principal photography” = “completed”? PS - none of your links said anything close to all four sequels being completed by 2020. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

Gran Torino is really great. But I felt he’d been slipping lately (remember that fake baby in American Sniper?!). Thankfully, this is a pretty simplistic story about a wise cracking 90 year old who ends up as a successful drug mule for a big cartel. Not a complex movie to direct so Eastwood does a good job. It’s also shot much better than most of his recent movies; the cinematography looks much better. “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

Never mind, I stopped caring yesterday. It's like arguing with a Lib about Trump. They have blinders on. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

How could this not be great. Well, it's not great, nor is it a dud. Very well made, story as boring as dry toast. The exchange of Gary Powers for the Russian spy, who cares. The biggest drama was when some German punks stole Hanks overcoat. 2 hours and 20 minutes of jaw dropping boredom. Because I knew how it ended, I was in HS, I remember. Why this movie was ever made is a mystery. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Exactly on all counts. Just saw this 2 weeks ago. A rare miss by all concerned. Never doubt a small group of concerned citizens can change the world; it's the only thing ever has |

It follows the story of Hilter, or somebody pretending to be Hilter, who wakes up in Berlin in 2014, thinking it is still 1944. With such a ridiculous premise, the movie is obviously a comedy. It is done in the style of Borat, where there is a plot driving the movie, but many scenes are improvised with Hitler walking about modern Germany and noting the reactions, which are both funny and kind of sad how well received he is by the majority. The actor who plays Hitler does an outstanding job in these improvised scenes, on par or even better than Sasha Baron Cohen. Here is one scene where Hilter and, shall we say, his talent agent run out of money. Recall that in his youth Hitler flunked out of art school in Austria. It was driving me crazy where I had seen the actor in the red vest before (I believe a reference to Back to the Future). German's are obsessed with Hitler, just like they were in 1936. They love him, no matter what they say publicly. Hitler made them a world power for awhile, after the humiliation of losing WWI. Why would you ever trust a country that has such a huge ego that they start 2 world wars within 25 years of each other. Was this thing shot on an iPhone? It has awful production values. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
