What I don't know about Topology would fill a large book on topology, but I enjoy the odd little demo now and then.

The other day I hastily made a Mobius strip with the leftover strip from a desk calculator. It was perfect because it's printed on one side and blank on the other. I demonstrated how it only has one surface, then I snipped it lengthwise.

The reaction is always priceless. I really should learn to explain why that happens.

Try it.

If you do, then snip it lengthwise again. You may be surprised.

I have to make this joke:

Q Why did the chicken cross the Mobius strip?
A To get to the same side.

Thanks. That's a lot more illuminating (literally)

I know topology is not just good for parlor games, but it does succeed at it.
