Pacomartin Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 1068 Posts: 12569 | This ranking is not exactly a surprise 1) San Francisco 2) Vancouver 3) New York city 4) Seattle ... 25) Cleveland 26) St Louis 27) Detroit Many people don't think of NYC as a "green" city, but it sort of an economic reality. Prior to WWII 1 in 12 Americans lived in NYC or Chicago proper. It was a time when people were green and didn't know it. They lived in small apartments and rode the subway or streetcars and walked to a lot of places. They probably recycled a lot only they called it being frugal. |

At one time Cleveland was where all the millionaires lived. Even Rockefeller lived there till he moved his fortune to NY. Millionaires Row from 1850 to 1910: If you take a risk, you may lose. Alot of Rust Belt communities are prospering by going green via selling abandoned buildings for one dollar and dedicating ex-crack house lots for "community gardens" and "bicycle paths" A return to ww2 Liberty Gardens? |

Full report actually ranks the cities using different criteria (buildings, air, etc.) I was using the overall standard. |
