Spotlight on Total Solar Eclipses

Do total solar eclipses eventually repeat in a pattern over the same spots on the Earth, even if the pattern is quite long?

I think not. But due to the orbits and sizes of the three objects involved, Sun, Earth and Moon, they're not visible over the whole surface of the world. I don't think you'll ever see a total solar eclipse in the Arctic and Antarctic, for example.
