I guess everyone is aware that Carlos Slim of Mexico is the richest man in the world. But still it is shocking to see how big América Móvil is especially now that it is expanding into Europe. In the USA it operates as TracFone, NET10 Wireless, Straight Talk, SIMPLE Mobile and Telcel América. Yearly revenue for 2014 was 883.8 billion pesos = US$60.675 billion. I think it is larger than the next five largest Mexican companies. In comparison google had revenue of Revenues $60.629 billion last year. Wireless Lines subscribers as of Dec 2014 of all companies in which América Móvil holds an economic interest 71,463 Mexico 71,107 Brazil 29,776 Colombia 26,006 USA 22,000 Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay 20,008 Austria & CEE 19,065 Central America & Caribbean 12,498 Peru 11,772 Ecuador 5,754 Chile 289,449 Total Wireless Lines América Móvil ended 2014 with 368 million access lines, ( 289.4 million wireless subscribers, 34.3 million landlines, 22.6 million broadband accesses and 21.5 million PayTV units). |

Of course I use it maybe once a month, for my regular calls I use Google Talk, which is free. It's great for business calls that put you on hold a lot. They can keep me on hold as long as they want, who cares. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I had no idea that they were so big. Verizon Wireless 125.3 million (2014 Q3) AT&T Mobility 120.6 million (2014 Q4) Sprint Corporation 55.93 million (2014 Q4) Now Verizon Communications is a much bigger corporation than América Móvil. They have revenue of $127.079 billion in 2013, nearly double that of América Móvil. BTW, I have Google Voice at home. I put it on a mobile android tablet and tried it on public wifi. I tried 10 different public wifi places (Dunkin Donuts, Panera Bread, Burger King, ) and it only worked at one Dunkin Donuts. I had a good wifi connection at each one and I could play youtube. What is your experience? |
