I was just wondering if someone is free to trademark a bunch of "i-words" that could be useful in the future
iHealth®, iPulse®, iMail®

Did the creator of this character have to fight a legal battle?

BTW, as far as I know neither Asimov nor his estate ever sued iRobot for its name. You'd think they would have. Asimov's definitive, and brutally honest, volume of autobiography (his third *), was called "I, Asimov," playing on the title of his early and well-known anthology "I, Robot." (No idea when "I, Claudius" was published).

But then it's a little-known fact the title for "I, Robot" was not Asimov's idea, but his editor's at Gnome Press. In fact, the very title had been previously used in a short story by Eando Binder, which Asimov was well aware of.

(*) Asimov once claimed he was his favorite subject, therefore the three volumes of autobiography.

That does not actually come as a shock, but I have never owned anything by Apple either. Not even an iPod. The company will be 40 years old next year, and is the 5th largest company by revenue, 1st by Market Value, and 3rd by Profits.

REVENUE

Exxon Mobil
Chevron
Berkshire Hathaway
Apple

MARKET VALUE
Apple
Exxon Mobil
Google
Microsoft
Berkshire Hathaway

PROFITS $ Billion
Fannie Mae $83.963
Freddie Mac $48.668
Apple $37.037
Exxon Mobil $32.580
Pfizer
Wells Fargo
Microsoft
Chevron
Berkshire Hathaway

Part of the reason is, my 'artist' son in
law is a rabid Apple fan, that's all
they own. I have never had a single
complaint with non Apple products,
so why would I need it. My brother
in law is always talking about his Apple
crap, like it's a status symbol. Phooey
on that..
