Anyway, a customer asked us to justify the prices for a bunch of items. The boss asked me to handle it. I tried comparing them to supermarket current prices, but that backfired in a hurry. So I made a list of reasons why the prices seem high, including the need to price food a year in advance, coping with inflation, coping with a Peso worth 15.5 to the Dollar, market volatility, shortages, etc.

Every word I said was true. None of it has a thing to do with the actual prices we used.

The boss, though, was pleased. He didn't even change a comma. He even gave me some mild praise.

I really hate this job.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over handling it the way you did. People in sales will say anything to keep a sale. Always be closing.
