As for Manning, he should retire now. Consider, aside from all he's accomplished so far, he's the first ever starting QB to win a Super Bowl for two different teams. That will be in the record books forever, and likely he'll stay alone there for a very long time.

Of course, if he retires and the Broncos win the next Super Bowl, he'll feel very foolish.

I'll go as far as to say the performance of the Star Spangled Banner yesterday was much better than the game.

I've been asked three time who was at the halftime show.... I took the chance to make dinner, and to catch up on Kara Cooney's book "The Woman who Would be King," about the life of Hatshepsut.

Dr. Cooney narrates her own book, which is always a plus on audio-books. The story's very interesting, and Cooney's narrative is particularly good. I even got an idea for a story "The God Awakens," based on her description of Hatshepsut's duties as wife of Amun, which included waking up the god every morning.

Of course, one must also put up with phrases like "Hatshepsut was the wife of the king, the daughter of the king and the sister of the king." Yuck.

I changed my mind. Manning should stick around for at least another year. Even if he's demoted to backup, and even if he doesn't play a single game.

See, if Denver can maintain that defense, they have a good chance of repeating a Super Bowl win. Manning could snag a third ring.

I'd say he should stay around even longer, but I don't think his body is up to the task anymore. Once he retires, I think he'd make a good analyst or announcer for some network. He does perform well for the camera after a game. I've no idea if he'd make a good coach.

Any idea what the Broncos will do for a QB?

I know they signed Sanchez off the Eagles. To which I say "No, really. What are the Broncos going to do about a QB?"

At least they didn't offer Tebow his old job back.
