An advertisement where they pass a piece of candy with their mouths (no lips) has been hugely successful, but brought down the ire of more conservative groups.  |

More wholesome, I don't think so I checked out the red light Shinjuku district in Tokyo long long time ago Manga and anime is full of T and A They have wholesome k-pop, we have wholesome boy bands Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

J-pop, probably. I don't think the Japanese are into the K-Pop as much... It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.... it's called Life |

I guessed J and K were short for Japanese and Korean, but I had to google them. I read that "perfume" was huge in Japan. Thank goodness for Google!  |

There is a culture of drinking, smoking, and carousing amongst the white collar "salary men". They added "women only" trains to the subway in response to complaints of groping. Shame is a big deal there, so victims suffer silently. Red light districts have, in some sense, been institutionalized there for hundreds of years. They sell porno mags, cigarettes and alcohol (beer and sake) from unmonitored vending machines on the street...   Maybe it's our fault after all. |

Reserved is probably the best term. It is a culture where you keep your bad behavior subtle and in private. Some things are tolerated and some or not. Falling over drunk guys in the street is fine, tattoos are not. It has all kinds of behavior codes. The President is a fink. |
