Snow is common in Hawaii
.

Not like this. A 3 day blizzard, a
week long storm that left 30"
of snow.

Agreements only mean something if both sides agree to abide with them and are willing to accept any decisions against them.

Channeling Nixon is never a good idea.

If the president does it and it's against the law, it's still illegal.

Also, keep in mind tariffs breed tariffs. How much does the US want to stop exporting? How many billions in exports would survive a single round of tariff wars?

If President-elect Donald Trump follows through with his plan to make it "a very expensive mistake" for US companies to manufacture goods overseas, it could put his own daughter's business in a bind.

I'm not saying Trump is brilliant.

Nope, not saying it. : )

I don't think Trump is talking about businesses
that are already set up in other countries. That
would be very unfair to punish a company
who moved away 10 years ago. Trump has
said he gets a lot of stuff made in China because
there is no similar place in the US to get the
same work done. The manufacturing base is
long gone. He's talking about companies that
leave now and try and sell their stuff back in
the US.

When were they ever for a free market?

People's
401k's are growing nicely and
he isn't even president yet.

My 401K has been growing nicely for the past year. Has nothing to do with Trump.

Crazy things like getting Carrier stay in the
US. He got 1000 employees to stay, which
is nothing to sneeze at.

Not every conservative is comfortable with Trump's intervention in the free market.

Similarly, Trump, by telling companies that they will suffer consequences if they leave America, is going to cause some number of companies not to set up shop in the United States to begin with...

Trump's Carrier deal is likely to have another perverse effect: it will cause more companies to threaten to move to Mexico or overseas, in order to squeeze concessions from government... Companies in the U.S. see Carrier getting paid for threatening to move jobs overseas, and will inevitably produce their own new plans to move plants overseas, making the initial problem worse. It is likely that under President Trump, you will see more companies declaring an intent to move out of the country than ever before.

Trump will bribe some of them and "save" more jobs, and his more economically illiterate fans will applaud.

401Ks don't grow in two weeks, something Bob fails to understand. Claiming victory for two weeks of stock market growth is the same as claiming Obamacare was a clean sweep due to the number of sign ups after 2 weeks. It's fruitless and misguided. As is blaming him for all the ills after 2 weeks.

Nothing he has done yet can be shown to have a lasting effect. It's just exuberance, and that's no way to forsee the future.

It'll be interesting see how he uses it. Earlier today he spent an hour in a private meeting discussing climate change with Al Gore.

Still snowing in Hawaii, more evidence
that Algore is a raving nutjob. If anything,
we're moving into another mini ice age
like they had in Europe 500 years ago.
