Will most states allow you to do that without registering the car? I believe in Nevada you would have to title and register it before you can sell it unless you have a dealer's license.

In Nevada it is very expensive to register cars. We pay over $1000 each year to register my car and my wifes car.

I am pretty sure you can do so. Just do a title transfer. Also, in most states you should be able to do an "exit registration" meaning you are leaving the state and will take care of plates when you get to where you are going.

I sold my Accent to a guy who just put Ohio plates on it and drove away. We had to go to the PA Notary (we don't go to the DMV here, it is all done private) who transferred the title and he took whatever they gave him to wherever you go in Ohio.
The President is a fink.
