George W. Bush took 879 days of vacation (almost 2.5 years), including 77 trips to his Texas ranch, during his eight years as president, according to one report. Total cost has been estimated at $124 million, for an average of $15.5 million per year.

Bill Clinton took 174 vacation days on Martha’s Vineyard and at Jackson Hole, Wyo. Ronald Reagan spent 390 days on vacation over eight years, of which 335 days were at his California ranch. Jimmy Carter took 79 days in four years. Gerald Ford made skiing trips to Vail, Colo.; Richard Nixon had a vacation home in Key Biscayne, Fla., and a “Western White House” in San Clemente, Calif.

It cost the Government some $750,000 in 1981 to bring Reagan’s ranch “up to speed” as a presidential retreat and nearly $1.2 million on Nixon’s Key Biscayne home in 1969, including $452,700 to upgrade the residence, and $2.4 million on San Clemente. Costs Are Put At $250,000 For a Reagan Trip to Coast (1981)

Barack Obama went on 29 vacations (including long weekends) spanning all or part of 228 days and spent approximately $97 million on travel in eight years, averaging $12.12 million per year or just over $1 million per month in office.

Donald Trump spent seven of his first 14 weekends as president at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, at an estimated cost of $3 million each, or $21 million in a little more than three months (an average of $7 million per month in office). I don’t know if that includes the cost of Coast Guard patrols in the waters by the resort, or the cost of transporting Melania and Barron Trump from their residence in New York to Florida (and/or the White House) on weekends. Coast Guard faces growing costs for protecting Trump’s Mar-a-Lago

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said it has cost local taxpayers about $60,000 in overtime every day Trump spends in Florida. The costs of Trump’s visits has so strained the county’s budget that Palm Beach wants either the federal government or Trump himself to foot the bill. Facing soaring costs, Palm Beach officials ask Trump to pay up

Trump frequently criticized President Obama’s vacations and golf dates. All 26 times Trump tweeted about Obama playing golf too much. In his first 100 days in office, Trump spent 19 days on the golf course, compared to 1 for Obama, 0 for Bush 43, and 5 for Clinton.

Shortly after the election, a CNN Money report indicated that protecting first lady Melania Trump and the Trumps’ 10-year-old son, Barron, at Trump Tower in New York cost $1 million a day. If they instead joined him at the White House, that cost would essentially be eliminated. Previous First Ladies moved into the White House after their spouse was inaugurated, as did their minor children. Michelle Obama and the two young Obama daughters, aged 10 and 7 when their father was inaugurated, moved from their home in Chicago in January 2009 and transferred to Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C. in the middle of the school year. George W. and Laura Bush did not have school-age children when he was elected. Bill and Hillary Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, was 12 years old when she moved from Arkansas with her parents in 1993 and continued her education at Sidwell Friends.

One of the issues surrounding Trump’s frequent weekend vacations is that although Trump owns Mar-a-Lago, the resort is a for-profit business. Expenses incurred for the Secret Service agents and White House staff that travel with Trump for rooms, meals, and incidentals are unlikely to be comped. Consequently, on-site costs are billed to the government (i.e., taxpayers) and paid into Trump-owned accounts. Secret Service has spent $35,000 on golf cart rentals on Trump properties since inauguration And there are other costs, such as the $12,000 for tents, portable toilets, light towers, and golf carts during Trump's Super Bowl weekend trip to Mar-a-Lago. In reaction to local criticism about traffic tie-ups around Trump’s visits, a helipad was built for Marine One at Mar-a-Lago.

Similarly, the Pentagon and Secret Service rent space in the Trump-owned Trump Tower in New York. Again, that money goes into Trump coffers. The floors available to rent cost about $1.5 million a year.

I seriously fail to see why there isn't any outrage among his supporters for such blatant graft.

Especially after they whined about Obama spending too much for 8 years... pure hypocrisy.

Hypocrisy in politics is like water in the ocean: it isn't politics without it.

It's not that I don't mind it, but that I expect it. And there's no point in bringing it up.

Graft, though, is not normal, and shouldn't be tolerated. However much the travel costs of earlier presidents were, none of it was paid to said presidents. Golden Boy takes in a great deal more in payments for the use of his properties, plus ancillaries, than he does in the salary he showily donated to an agency whose budget he wants to cut.
