Dhadak is breaking box office records since it's release. I wonder if kids go to these movies or adults. They seem so much different than Western movies, even those from the 1920s.

Not into Bollywood
but
I am watching Sacred Games on Netflix that takes place in Mumbai
Looks like a India/Netflix co-production
So far pretty good but I've just seen EP 1 last nite.

Bollywood seems to mean a lot of dancing.

Watching this, I wonder if the older generation disapproves of this new dancing?

Bollywood is about where we were
in the early 30's. Lots of bad and
silly movies, stuff that's unwatchable
now.

At the end of Slum Dog Millionaire, they did have a big bollywood routine during the closing credits. I actually enjoyed it a lot

Well that was a fantastic song and a great production.

I find that a lot of Asian pop is fascinating in small doses. I like watching a song or two, but if I am going to listen to an hour of music it must be European, North American, or Latino. I can't listen to an hour of South Asian or East Asian pop music.

The video was pretty amateur, like
a HS would do.

Can't really say I appreciate what I think is traditional India music. The use of semitones and odd tone of the singing does not appeal to me. But it's more than that, because lots of Jazz does that, but it's a different framework.

However videos that Paco has linked have a very definite western pop, or Japanese pop feel to the music style. The dancing is still Bollywood style.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

It's cornball. Like something you expect
to see in your travels in 1900 and
tell people back home about.

And they severely over-act in
their movies, much like the silent
movie stars did in the late 20's
in their transition to sound. They
miss the subtle nuances that can
be seen in a really good movie.

Perfume been around a long time
Take away their vocals and its techno bubble gum pop that sounds like it could have come out of Europe.
Not a big fan but their music is kind of catchy
As to listening to an hour of music, too each their own
I could sit and listen to 3 hours of grateful dead music. (typical concert length)
but
I also understand that some would consider it torture. lol

Perfume is highly choregraphed but they can also loosen up.
Here is an interesting and long video of Perfume joking with their fans at a show in San Francisco
1/2 way through they finally find an interpreter in the audience
