Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | Who could ever fold one of those maps. The phone book and phone were embarrassing, she was dialing it like a 4 year old would. I can't believe someone who sounds fairly smart would be that ignorant. Most movies before 1965 that was about the 20th century has phone dialing in it, she never saw one of them? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | I've fought map folding before. But I am a map guy, good ones are hard to find anymore. Really hard to locate a well printed Atlas or map. Ever wear a hole through one at a fold and keep the map as long as you can and continue using it? The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury. GW |

She was looking for a Car Service that's why she failed. Golden Muffler was a NAME but a 17 year old would think it was a car service. I had a Customer that had a BRANDNAME as a NAME. Her name was something like Mercedes Benz. Truth is stranger than Fiction. I had an 18 year old Coworker ask what stamps were used for. Understandable since he was born in 2001 and in 2001 Email was already beginning to take over snail mail, but our older Coworker(She's in her 40's)was a bit flabbergasted that he didn't know that stamps were used to send mail physically. |

Touch tone dialing was formally introduced on 18 November 1963, but you still had to make a connection to the dial tone while you were entering the digits. The teenager was used to entering the number first , and then hitting TALK. It never occurred to her to pick up the handset. Ellen and Portia were married on August 2008. I wonder if that teenager remembers when two same sex people couldn't get married. |

I didn't get a push button phone till the late 70's, why get rid of dial phones that still worked. Also, PB service wasn't in this area till the 70's, we had a party line till 1970. Private lines were unavailable. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

KNathan Member since: Dec 9, 2018 Threads: 37 Posts: 547 | Older TV Sitcoms where Characters were SO excited to get their own private phone lines for landline phones eem laughably outdated nowadays with cellphones being so abundant, but say in the 80's and 90's, having your own private phone line for your landline was a big deal. |

She would have only been like 6 when Gay Marriage was officially legalized but in the 80's, Gays were able to have Commitment Ceremonies which was a weaker version of straight marriage. |
