Nancy Stratton? Wasn't she a character in the movie, "Animal House"?

How large was the class of 83? My class was very large (several hundred), so there is no way one person could know everyone. You could approach it as a networking opportunity. If you have kept in touch with anyone from 83 or even 84, you could arrange to attend together, or meet there. Showing up as a single, you run the risk of being, "that guy" who has to inject himself into every conversation.

The Queen Mary is a pretty intimate place. I don't recall their air handling system to be very robust, and late July can get uncomfortably warm, even right by the water, and it is Southern California, so I don't think you need a tie.

I recall that they've got a "Haunted" tour that they run some evenings. There is also a "Princess Diana" collection of her stuff on display, so if you need to appear entertained, there are some options. Is there anything in the dome next door that used to house the "Spruce Goose"? I recall they had a "Star Trek" experience / memorabilia exhibit there some time ago.

Of course you know, if you need to bail early, the Hawaiian Gardens casino/card club is not far away.

I think you're thinking of Eric Stratton, a.k.a. Otter.

My class was about 500 students. I probably would be "that guy" who doesn't know a soul in the whole room. I'm hoping there is a bar where I can just sit and observe if necessary.

I voted yes, but I have a unique position on reunions since my class was 26 people. We were pretty close, and there are some people I have not stayed in touch with whom I would like to see.

I graduated 1985, class size = 100.

I very much enjoyed my high school years. We had a 10 year reunion, about 50 people attended and it was just like high school. Everyone was the same as they were in high school. There were no surprises, which was a surprise. We never had another reunion. If we did, I highly doubt I would attend.

Today, I keep in touch with two buddies from high school, that's it. I have no interest in Facebook or "catching up" with people I have not seen or spoken to in 20-30 years. I prefer to remember things the way they were.

Edit- The only reason we (me & my buddies) attended the 10 year reunion was because we were looking to score a piece of tail. We got drunk and struck out. Pretty much just like high school.

I’ve never been to one and I never will.

I guess I don’t see the point. There are some from high school I still keep in touch with. My 2 best friends from hs are still my two best friends. My two fishing buddies from my fishing thread are high school friends that I’ve remained friends with. Occasionally, I’ll randomly run into some old school mates and exchange niceties. That’s enough for me.

Those I haven’t seen or don’t care to see… what’s the point? Whether the jock is still fit or fat as can be, whether the bully is a PhD or a burger flipper, whether the hot girl is still hot or fat and frumpy are inconsequential to me. If I went, I’d probably ignore those I haven’t seen since leaving school in ’98, exchange the same niceties with the same random ones I’ve seen about, and end up paired up with the ones I pair up with now in normal life.

Hardly seems worth the 2-6 hours out of my life.
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

I went to my 20th high school reunion in 1998. I went to a small school - class size was 82. About 45 showed up. The most interesting part was meeting the teachers that were invited, still alive, and who decided to show up. I didn't care about many of my classmates in HS, and I didn't care about them 20 years later. We had a dinner and our entertainment was karaoke. The party broke up pretty quickly after dinner, especially once the karaoke started. Our class never had another reunion after that one. I think they tried for 25 or 30 once, but it was cancelled due to lack of interest.

I just didn't believe you were such an introvert and had hoped time had blurred memories. You must have attended a pretty big school to be so lost. I always was very polite always saying hello and talking with everyone, so I guess it is foreign to me being introverted. I just always found the anxiety of the situation to go way down if I spoke with strangers.

Wiz I had no idea you were a griffin. My last high school football game was versus Los Al in the playoffs. I won't say who won but it wasn't the championship game....

Nerd's Rule at Reuinions

Wiz, how could you not go to your reunion? You have promotional pictures of you with half a dozen beautiful women. People have heard of you. You are known around the world, and you can even chat up the cute Puerto Rican girls from your class in Spanish. Your like a movie character, the classic "nerd who made good at the high school reuinion".

I can't believe you have to even ask this question.

It isn't hard getting pictures with models in my business. I assure you they were all paid to do it. Yes, lots of people are familiar with my sites. However, my face is still seldom recognized. I would estimate that 2 or 3 times a year a stranger asks "Are you the Wizard?" What are the odds of that happening at my reunion? Yes, I did well for myself since graduation, but I'm not the type to brag about it. Besides, after all the money I just lost in Cyprus, I've been feeling like quite the doofus in business. No, I would just sit there in the corner and hope to find another wallflower to talk to.

My Spanish class was all gringos, as I recall. It was a very white school. I'd estimate: 94% white, 5% Asian, 1% other.
