also wonder about cash? I'm immune compromised but have some cash in my mattress that I know is pre plague. I

When I get another stimulus payment,
I'm cashing my wife's check at her bank
wearing plastic gloves and taking
it immediately to Walmart and
putting it my Bluebird account.
At the casino I'll use an ATM to
get cash because they usually
dispense new bills.

I'm pretty sure he had a stroke and heart attack at the end of this.

I heard about some f#$%arow with direct depositing your refund, and them adding what amounted to a $40 service fee for the privilege of saving them the trouble.

I'm a petty mf'er. Making them hire someone to cut me a check and put it in an envelope and send it USPS is about the only thing that keeps me out of the book repository. I do the same for all bills I hate, like Spectrum. I like to imagine some bean counter losing his s#$% because there's just one dude opening my letter, and he can't fire him and plump his bottom line cuz I won't stop paper checking him.

It's the little things.

Treasury checks are cool, reminds me of old money back when it was ornate and admirable. And like old money, I find it hard to part with them...

Yeah, last time I saw one was the Army where having direct deposit is a requirement, but when I joined the Reserves after being IRR for some time I guess my DD info got lost or something, and I guess they panicked and just sent me a treasury check to my home of record for drill pay.... I have never heard of that happening.... But, it was kind of cool. I was quickly required to set up DD though.

States are asking for more help through a stimulus package. I am not against it; we are in unprecedented times and there is no good road map. I also know that too much spending is always bad and that there will be consequences for all of this spending in the future.

State and local stimulus packages should be limited to the actual costs of the pandemic and the lost tax revenue, at most. No state should be allowed to get stimulus that helps them pay for problems that they already had. In other words, if the pension is underfunded and that is not remedied with the amounts I mention, too bad. I know that they cannot go into bankruptcy but they need to fix their problems in a way other than lumping it in with money spent because of the crisis.

I agree
This is exactly why I demand a balanced budget from our politicians
I used to vote republican because I supported a balanced budget
I was dismayed as republicans these days ignore a balanced budget and let spending explode under Trump while reducing revenue due to huge tax breaks
What happened to republicans? A balanced budget used to be a benchmark policy that Trump demolished and republicans did not bat an eye
If we had a balanced budget, we could easily afford the trillions of stimulus we are spending.
Due to a severely unbalanced budget by Trump, we will pay for it generation after generation crippling our future economy.
On the flip side, just got my 2nd 600 a week direct deposit unemployment supplement to the state check. Loving life not working and making good scratch. Played golf yesterday on a weekday. Love it as generally nobody ahead or behind so we can play at whatever speed we want :-)
