The M&M boys. Roger Maris & Mickey Mantle
Chasing Babe Ruth's home run record of 60.
Maris did it with 61 Mantle ended up with 54.
Everyone was pulling for the Mick. Maris was not well liked.
Iiirc as they got close it was front page news every day.

It's just called "The Catch." Willie Mays incredible catch in the World Series. As if that wasn't enough, his great throw back to the infield prevented runners from advancing.

No, I'm not old enough to have seen it, just heard stories about it.

When I was a kid, I used to think the Shriners were strange foreigners from the East (Arabic). They drove miniature cars in parades, wore funny hats and had a local building similar to the one in the picture.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

"Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine"

Is their official name. So you are not completely wrong.

I still don't know what they do either other than they often are at events raising money for children's hospitals, they still wear the same things (and in parades still drive small cars).
