I was recently out having drinks with some friends and on the news they show someone in New York burning the American flag.

My friends were outrage calling the person un-American. Idiots. I tried explaining to them that there was nothing more American than being able to burn the flag. They just couldn't understand.

The Supreme Court has ruled that discretion of the flag is protected by the 1st amendment.

Only things you might be charged with are secondary things, like you burn someone's flag you don' own, or burn a museum object or arson, disorderly conduct, depending on the laws of the area you're in.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

one flag burner was the woke professor whose threats with a machete got her fired, some school rehired her, and she got fired again for an antisemitic reaction to Gaza . You either know her already or missed all that

the take-away from that is she seems to be thriving

I missed all that because I don’t live in the right wing ecosphere where only pointless culture war nonsense permeates.

Hmm. I haven't heard so much controversy over BURNING the flag, as much as I've heard controversy over letting the flag touch the ground/floor. 💡
Alec Baldwin's gun should have been CGI. Would have prevented the tragedy. Facts.

Here is my opinion that will make everyone upset. Both of you are correct. Burning the flag is legal and should be protected, but they are also obscene for doing it.

Also I just learned recently that hanging a flag upside down is a sign that America is in danger and distress. 💡

This is pretty darn accurate. You can stand for the Constitution and the right to burn a flag as part of "Free Speech" but no where in the Constitution does it say that you can't absolutely despise people that burn the flag.
