Who would you vote for to be high school class president, and why?

Pedro

Definitely Pedro - I want the Holy Santos patrolling the hallways and I love chimichangas (which Summer wants to remove from next year's menu)

Okay, for those who voted for "What in the hell are you talking about Wiz?", you're in for a treat! I'm referring to the movie Napoleon Dynamite. This is one of those few movies I could watch over and over again, and never get tired of it. What is amazing is it was done on a shoestring budget too.

Pedro election speech.

It's funny that movies that were made in the 1930's and 1940's are easily watched over and over, but now that we have the technology to easily watch a movie unlimited times, most of them are unwatchable after first viewing.

Yes, the quality is down so low that even that first time can be an ordeal.

I remember when audiences stood and cheered an empty screen at the end of a movie such as Singin' in the Rain. And audiences applauded at the Thalia on the Upper West Side.

Those opening lines of dialogue by Pedro look like you have to see the movie.

  1. No. I ride by bike
  2. It's a Sledgehammer.
  3. Yes.
  4. What?
  5. Yes.
  6. No. But I probably will after school.
  7. That girl over there.
  8. Build her a cake or something.
  9. Is she hot?
  10. Wow.
  11. I like her bangs.
  12. A couple of days.
  13. No.
  14. Why?
  15. She's pretty good-looking.
  16. Sure.
  17. I better go.
  18. I got sick.
    ...

Oh, but there are plenty of old movies still around!

Seriously, there are many great old movies which are very much worth watching. If you have a chance, find "Citizen Kane" with commentary by the late Roger Ebert. That film is a masterpiece of the cinematographer's art, and Ebert's commentary points out just how much was involved in shooting the movie. And there's the great acting, witty dialogue and somewhat engaging story.

Then there are others like Casablanca, Macario, All's Quiet on the Western Front, Noi Vivi, The Third Man, The Fountainhead, Un Día Con El Diablo, Metropolis and many more.

Summer. White skin, blonde hair, blue eyes.

Oh... its a movie? Then the only relevant color is green! How much it make?
Nothin' else matters.

Casablanca? Became a very well marketed film. It was probably a good one but it took off only when it was marketed as a "hit".

All Quiet on the Western Front.... never saw anything much happening in it.
