What animal kills the most humans every year? Is it the wolf? Is it other humans? Is it the snake?

As a secondary question, what mammal (besides other humans) kills the most people per year by attacks?

Without looking, I'm going to say #1 is mosquito. #2 is homo sapiens. The mammal will probably be dogs.

if mosquito is wrong, bee is correct. If dogs is wrong, Chupacabra is right <g>

You guys are having trouble with the mammal. Your not watching enough National Geographic specials.

Rabies carried by dogs is a big killer, but I specified that it had to be cases where mammal attack is the cause of death, not where the secondary cause is disease.

Speaking of which did you see that story about the Bengal tiger that jumped into a boat and carried away the father of a family in India,

Talk about primal fears.

They're in the largest tiger habitat in India and
get attacked. Who would have thought.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I blame "Life of Pi"
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

I've seen it questioned that anyone actually has accurately tabulated how many people are killed by this deadliest mammal. Doubters I guess.

But certainly Hippos are killers. Apparently they are territorial in the extreme and will not tolerate a small boat passing through their territory. They can't swim! They actually trundle along on their legs along the bottom of the stream

I missed mosquito. Couldn't knock my brain out of "first world" mode =p

I knew Hippo was the answer to the second question.

The shocker to me was the freshwater snail. Seriously? You know how many of those I've collected, how much of their water I drink?

I wonder how many times I would have already died had I been born African. I'd set the fair line at 30.5.
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

I'm surprised elephants rank so relatively high and didn't realize the extent of rabies deaths from dog bites.

As Face said, being of 1st world mentality it's not automatic to think of regions without mandatory dog vaccinations and effective treatment for rabies from any source.

Pablo Escobar had hippos in his private zoo in Colombia. They are thriving and multiplying at a considerably higher rate than observed in Africa. The Colombians have been reluctant to kill them, and have tried vaccinating one male in the wild (not the best job in the world).

When he died 20 years there was one male and three femals. Now an estimated 50 to 60 have been born. The desire for young males to start their own harems have led some to break into local rivers.
